Novena Carmel is the host of KCRW’s flagship music program, Morning Becomes Eclectic. Based in LA, the DJ, host, presenter, voice artist and curator was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area surrounded by her mother’s record collection and rooted in musical legacy. Her father, Sly Stone, built the blocks of her funk foundation and passed on a love for the brilliance of “everyday people.”
A multifaceted artist and creator, Novena has a reputation as a spirited host, deeply-knowledgeable open-format DJ, and voiceover artist who brings joy, curiosity, and a global perspective to everything she does. She has lent her talent to collaborations with influential brands and cultural institutions, including the Hollywood Bowl, LACMA, the Smithsonian, Apple Music, Angel City Football Club, Higher Ground Productions and the California African American Museum. As a warm, knowledgeable conversationalist, Novena has interviewed countless artists and icons including Solange, Stevie Wonder, Pink Pantheress, Mac Demarco, Clairo, Tame Impala, Billy Idol, and St Vincent.
